Take a trip to the enchanting waterfalls and the Pantano de Elche Nature Reserve, which also features fascinating flora and fauna. The sparkling lake, waterfalls and wide marshes were formed over many years after the construction of the dam wall. It lies in a vast natural basin that forms the lake. This is surrounded by arid countryside and orchards interspersed with gorges and excellent hiking and mountain bike routes.
It is the first arch-type dam wall to be built in Europe since Roman times. The oasis is located just 5 kilometers north of the city of Elche and about 40 minutes by car from the apartment.
These picturesque waterfalls are a great place for a walk, with rivers on the dry Costa Blanca a real rarity here.
It's about a 20 minute walk to the entrance to the falls. We recommend comfortable shoes for tracks full of dust and terrain.
Bring your own snacks as there are no stalls or shops nearby. With several picnic tables on site, you can immerse yourself in nature. If you dare, take the stairs up to admire the Rio Vinalopó lake, the source of the waterfall that powers the working dam.
In Pantano de Elche, every moment is an adventure.
